As early as 2015, OPPO first proposed the Slogan of "charging for 5 minutes and talking for 2 hours" on smartphones, which became a familiar classic advertising slogan. In the same year, Apple released the first laptop computer that supports USB PD fast charging, the new MacBook, which is also the first time that fast charging has entered the laptop market.
In the following years, under the joint promotion of OPPO, Huawei, Xiaomi, vivo, Meizu and many other manufacturers, fast charging quickly entered the fast lane of development in the consumer power market, and the market capacity grew rapidly. The popularity of fast charging is more due to the unification of USB-C connectors, the use of common interfaces, thereby reducing the number of proprietary interfaces and special adapters, but also when the equipment is eliminated, reducing the generation of electronic waste, energy saving and environmental protection.
Taking the mainstream USB PD fast charging as an example, the current large-scale commercial PD3.0 fast charging standard can support a maximum charging power of 100W, which can basically meet the application of mobile phones, laptops, thin and light tablets and other products. In May 2021, the USB-IF Association released the latest USB PD3.1 fast charging standard, adding three groups of extended voltages of 28V, 36V and 48V, and also increasing the charging power to 240W, covering two-wheeled electric vehicles, high-power power tools, IOT IoT devices and other product fields, and the fast charging protocol chip market was further expanded.
In addition to the USB PD fast charging protocol, QC, AFC, FCP, SCP, PE and other fast charging protocols also have many applications. In addition, on May 28, 2021, the Telecommunications Terminal Industry Association officially released the converged fast charging standard "Mobile Terminal Converged Fast Charging Technical Specification", referred to as UFCS, which also marks the official launch of China's first fast charging standard.
The market of fast charging is not only so much we see, there are more applications that we need to explore and expand, popularize fast charging to facilitate our lives.
